I am more productive and disciplined when Iโ€™m single because I can channel all my energy and focus on myself without worrying about catering to the needs of another.
Itโ€™s selfish I agree! I also agree that relationships can bring a lot to my life - I get to have someone to share things with and simply have them in my corner.
But all that comes at an expense if the person does not match my drive.
I believe healthy relationships should make me a better version of myself - I should be more disciplined and productive - not less.
I have my daily routine that some people might define as excessive but thatโ€™s me at my most optimal level.
If I am in a relationship and my productivity levels drop, it signals to me that we are not fully compatible.
And I will be honest, many times, my partners do not actively seek out to slow me down, it just slowly peeks in .. โ€˜Skip gym today and come see, I wanna take you out โ€™, โ€˜Babe you working too much, get some rest โ€™.
In theory, these are lovely gestures and could even be classified as romantic but in practice, it passively weakens my drive.
I have a passionate spirit- I take on something and immerse myself in it. I get into a relationship and immerse myself in it..in our growth. So when I immerse myself in my own self-growth - I am quite unstoppable.
This is why I can easily remain single and curate my life in a way that ensures constant growth, self-discipline, and mastery - so that if I have to get into a relationship, the person NEEDS to be adding to my already full life.
I know everyone is different but I HIGHLY encourage young women who follow me esp if you are in school or early in your career, to take a year at least to FOCUS SOLELY on yourself.
Use that time to observe who you become, how you navigate life, and develop a template of what your optimal level looks like without distractions; so that when you do date, you have something to compare with and indicate if you are growing or not.
Please give yourself the gift of time, effort, and focus because you are worth it!
