In this thread, I'm writing a few instances related to Medicine and Surgery, mentioned in the Rigveda.
Some of the methods discussed in these instances aren't a possibility yet.
Why? Because modern science isn't advanced enough.
These verses talks about Ashwinikumaras – the twin vedic gods of medicine, and various methods employed by them to cure their patients.
1) Rigveda 1-116-8
This verse talks about how Ashvinikumars treated Sage Atri's fever. They used an icepack to cure the fever.
We use a similar home remedy to subdue high fever.
One thing to note in the above verse is that no "ice" is mentioned anywhere. They have used the word "cold".
It could have been cold water as well. It was probably ice though.
2) Rigveda 1-116-10
The verse talks about how Ashwinikumaras rejuvenated an old sage name Cyavana and made him youthful again.
At the same time, increasing his lifespan.
If we follow the advancements in science, this is gonna be a possibility in the next 100 years.
3) Rigveda 1-116-14
This verse talks about Ashwinikumaras, giving vision to blind people.
Three instances are mentioned as follows:
- Rjrasva got his vision back.
- An unnamed poet got his vision back.
- Ashwinikumaras are being praised as the healers of the blind.
4) Rigveda 1-116-22
This verse talks about how Ashwinikumars produced lactation in an infertile cow.
I have a dairy myself and we use medical kits on a regular basis, to reinduce lactation in stray cows.
So that's totally a feat in itself.
5) Rigveda 1-116-15
This verse talks about a warrior queen named Vispali.
Her lower limb became severed in the battle and Ashwinikumars chopped that limb and attached a prosthetic metal limb.
The procedure was done in a single night so that she could battle her opponents the very next day.
