Remembering Rao Chandrasen Rathore of Marwar who watered the land of his birth by his own blood and the blood of his faithful followers in an attempt to maintain the independence of Marwar against the rising power of the Mughals under Akbar on his birth anniversary i.e. 30 July,
The 'forgotten hero' of Marwar, Rao Chandrasen Rathore became the Raja of Jodhpur at the age of 21. He refused to have any form of alliance with the Mughals and he defended his kingdom for nearly two decades against relentless attacks from the Mughals
Bhadrajun Fort of Jalore, where he entrenched himself after 1564 and made it his base to fight against Akbar, a war which went on for a total of 22 yrs until the death of Rao Chandrasen in 1581.
Mughals were not able to establish their direct rule in Marwar until Chandrasen was alive.
On 11 January 1581, Chandrasen breathed his last breath. He died as an independent sovereign kijg of a sovereign territory in the middle of the Mughal empire of Akbar
The memorial of Rao Chandrasen ji is an inscription carved on the stone of Makrane, in which Rao Chandrasen riding on a horse and his five queens are shown.
