On the occasion of Birth Anniversary of founder of Delhi Maharaja Anangpal Tomar II, let's take a look at his life span and his works.
Maharaja Anangpal founded Delhi in 1052 AD and established the Iron Pillar, and made it the centre of his capital.

A VS 1383 inscription states the founding of Delhi by the Tomar Rajputs:
देशोऽस्ति हरियानाख्यो पॄथिव्यां स्वर्गसन्निभः
ढिल्लिकाख्या पुरी तत्र तोमरैरस्ति निर्मिता
In a country called Haryana, which is equivalent to heaven on earth, Tomars built a city called Dhillika.
As per contemporary source Vibudh Shridhar’s Parshwanath Charit, Maharaja Anangpal Tomar defeated Turks led by Ibrahim Ghaznavi, the Sultan of Ghaznavid Empire, near to Himachal pradesh.

After the fixing of Iron Pillar (Killi) in delhi, coins in the name of "Shree Killi Dev Pal" were minted by him. By assuming the iron pillar as center, numerous palaces and temples were built and finally the fort Lal Kot (Qila Rai Pithora) was built around them in 1060 AD.
Hansi Fort or Asirgarh fort in it's current form was founded by Anangpal Tomar II. The son of King Anangpal Tomar, Drupad established a sword manufacturing factory in this fort, hence it is also called "Asigarh". Swords from this fort were exported to far away places.
He also reconstructed and upscaled the Tahangarh fort in Karauli district of Rajasthan and was referred to as "Tribhuvan Pal Naresh".He is also credited to have established the Patan fort as the capital of his Tanwarawati kingdom in Rajasthan and forts of Mahendragarh, Badalgarh.
The Anangtal Baoli in Mehrauli which is the oldest existing primitive form of Baoli in Delhi was built by him.
It measured 130 feet by 36 feet while the well was 30 feet in diameter, and contained 74 steps.
Tomar Rajputs are divided into several subclans like Jatu, Pathanias, Raghu, Satraura.
Patan Thikana in Sikar Rajasthan is considered to be the head house of all the Tomars around the world. Rao Sahab Digvijay Singh ji is the current head of the Patan Family.
