Thread: While HEC chairman is all set to hold selection board tomorrow for post of Executive Director, today the govt has moved Supreme Court against his restoration in January by Islamabad High Court. This time it is Dr AttaurRehman calling the shots that might embarrass govt.
In Lahore High Court today, VC open University has also filed a petition stopping HEC chairman from holding the board. The ministry of education has written two letters to HEC as well that whatever he is doing is unlawful.

The HEC has stated that ministry of education has no right to interfere in its affiars and it is malafide to issue such directives. The ministry instantly replied to HEC in a press release and blamed that "it's unfortunate that chairman is usuinf his authority by revengeful acts"
While Dr Tariq Banuri was away for 11 months, Dr AttaurRehman tinkered with HEC scholarships, research and other projects. He not only got himself elected to the 21-member commission but also added to other members through PM who is the controlling authority of HEC.
Dr Banuri and Dr AttaurRehman have been sparring over funds for several projects. Dr Banuri is of the view that Dr Rehman is wasting money on projects that has no significance and holds no value.
After Banuri has been restored Dr AttaurRehman has started influencing the ministry of education to go into intra court appeal as he can't afford to see him in HEC. Dr Banuri will complete his tenure in May this year. All this fight and personal grudge is hurting higher education
