There are a number of questions in crypto that desperately need to be answered or acknowledged.
These topics are often neglected, but this thread will be an attempt to bring them to light.
Here are some things that aren’t talked about enough in crypto..🧁
Do people care about decentralization?
The entire premise of crypto was built around the concept of decentralization
$BTC was made to allow people to transact without a central authority, but an increasing number of people are fleeing to centralized alternatives
Have we lost our roots?
Crypto was once a fringe community of cypherpunks who advocated for the use of cryptography as a means for social & political change.
Out of the lust for money, many have abandoned the values that got us to where we are today in return for a quick buck
How can we combat tribalism?
Although crypto enthusiasts share many beliefs in common, the community has never been more marginalized
Everyone is convinced their coin is the best, & will ridicule others to defend their beliefs
How can we all come together for the greater good?
Why is the UX so bad?
If you’ve ever walked a friend or family member through creating a M*tam*sk & trading on a DEX, you know what i’m talking about.
If our goal is to offer a better alternative to our tradfi counterparts, the user experience will have to be improved ten fold.
How can we mitigate scams?
The anonymity crypto provides attracts lots of actors with malicious intent
The hundreds of scams that unfold daily put a stain on our image, & throw off thousands of investors who are new to this space
How can we teach people to be more responsible?
How damaging is casino culture?
I can’t remember seeing something on CoinGecko’s top gainers that didn’t end with “inu”
Sure, its fun dabbling in the casino, but we want people to take us seriously
That’s hard to do when we’re pumping HarryPotterObamaSonicInu (yes, it’s real)
How do we reward devs?
Open source code is great
With it, devs can use existing code w/o reinventing the wheel
However, it has its downsides
For every project launched, dozens of clones are launched by those looking for quick cash
This destroys incentives for developers
Do derivatives do more harm than good?
As the market matures, these tools will only become more available for institutional & retail investors.
While a great hedging tool for experienced traders, their opaqueness makes it extremely hard to manage risk for retail participants
What is a “fair launch”?
Is it one you personally make money on?
Is it a project with no VC funding, seed rounds, or private sales?
A project that launches fully diluted, with all tokens allocated to the community?
What is a fair launch, & is our criteria for it really fair?
How can we rid the age gap?
Crypto is young.
In the post-COVID world, young people will only become more immersed in this rapidly evolving tech, furthering the age gap even more
How can we educate older generations about this technology, let alone make them interested in it?
Do users really care about custody?
We’ve all heard “not your keys not your coins before”, but does it really resonate with new users?
The idea of being your own bank sounds great, but once you learn the responsibility it entails, many will flee to centralization for simplicity
This is a non exhaustive list of things from the top of my head I believe should be talked about more in crypto, and i’m sure i’m missing plenty.
What are some others you think should be mentioned?
