Imam al-Mujaddid al-Safarini quoted the statement of al-Qurtubi then commented:
“What is amazing from al-Qurtubi, that he says: ‘although I do not subscribe to it nor do I choose it’! Perhaps he feared that some envious people may misconstrue his words, so he guarded himself
