I recently took a detour into looking at 1800s county boundaries so naturally I had to look at what their populations would be today - plus I didn't realise Flintshire was in two parts (and Cromartyshire even more)

you can get the historic boundaries from OS as open data but these ones are from the Historic Counties Trust and they also have a population list, using 2011 Census data
