A fully optimized Facebook Ads account can make you $10m+ per year, but if you get banned, that number goes to zero.
Here are 15 things you shouldn’t do (and 1 you should do) to stay safe:
Here are 15 things you shouldn’t do (and 1 you should do) to stay safe:
1. Don’t advertise multiple website domains from the same ad account. If you want to advertise multiple domains, do them in SEPARATE ad accounts.
2. Don’t use URL redirects whenever possible. Facebook considers this masking, and it often triggers a ban.
3. Don’t use before and after photos in ad images. You can do this with a video by showing a before image, then some footage in between (product in use, etc.) and then show the after result. But never use the text before and after.
4. Don’t make income claims e.g. “Learn how to make $100k with no work!”
5. Don’t delete comments on ads. Either respond to them, hide them, or report them as spam. Facebook considers deleting comments as negative feedback.
6. Don’t use multiple personal profiles. Facebook considers that a violation of terms of service.
7. Don’t create multiple Facebook pages for the same business. Facebook can consider this as an attempt at circumventing their policy.
8. If your account/business manager/personal profile gets disabled don’t freak out and yell at support. That’s a great way to never get your account back.
9. Don’t use copyrighted material you don’t have the rights to use (music, celebrities, etc).
10. Don’t call out people’s personal attributes (physical or otherwise.) E.g. “Want to lose weight?” is a big NO. “Have depression?” is the same. Facebook HATES this. That being said, they are more lenient with this in industries that are not: diet/fitness, health, supplements.
11. Saying the word “you” is generally not advised to avoid running into trouble with the above rule.
12. Mentioning the words: “weight loss”, “anxiety”, “depression”, or “fat loss”, are AT BEST asking for higher CPMs, and AT WORST likely to cause an account ban.
13. Don’t run ads to a landing page that violates Facebook Ads policy. The page that they land on is just as important for disapprovals/disablings as the ad itself.
14. Don’t swear in ads.
15. Don’t use 5 star emojis (e.g. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️). It's just corny :)
16. If your account gets banned, send in a polite appeal. Tell them that you don’t think you broke any rules, apologize if you missed something, include a phone number to contact you, and above all, don’t be rude. That’s your best shot at getting the account back.
Alright, that's everything.
