A young Nancy Pelosi with Hu Xijin the editor of Global Times.
The photo is fake, but it does have some logic behind it...๐Ÿงต
So much of China 's view on Taiwan has been caricaturized in the West to the point of absurdity, as a Chinese let me tell you the real perspective.
Pelosi's possible Taiwan visit will accelerate the process of unification with mainland China.
Mainland China and Hong Kong accounts for more than 40% of all export destinations for Taiwan
It's not an understatement to say mainland China controls the economic lifeline of Taiwan
The more moderate consensus in China in regards to unification is to make Taiwan lose their economic edge first
Done by limiting some aspects of trade as well as outcompete Taiwanese companies
Flat panel display manufacturing was one of the pillar of Taiwanese economy, today Mainland Chinese companies like BOE have taken the lead
From high-end Machine Tool (the mother of all machines)
to robotics and pretty much all important industries for Taiwan, the Mainland are either neck and neck or have surpassed Taiwan
Taiwan's pillar companies survives on Mainland preferential policies
All except one industry, the semiconductor industry, the last economic moat protecting Taiwan
Take that away, or chip away at their market share, then Taiwan will just be known for their Minced Pork rice.
A process the Mainland is doing as we speak
With the economic barrier out of the way, China can have more policy freedom in regards to Taiwan, bringing it back to the fold with economic pressure
This is the general direction for Peaceful Unification.
However, China has never rule out the possibility of a unification war
Some say amphibious landing on Taiwan is impossible
But most of those people are thinking Normandy landing rather than any one of the many amphibious landings the Americans conducted in the Pacific against Japan
The US would conduct an amphibious landing only when they had naval and aerial superiority, even supremacy.
Best illustrated by their landings Okinawa
If war happens, then China would seek to have the same landing conditions
Okinawa shares a lot of geological similarities to the island of Taiwan
Having been to Taiwan, I've actually measured the angles of their embankment they are perfectly scalable by PLA tanks
A lot of the West coast of Taiwan facing Mainland China looks like this
So the insurmountable geography is actually a myth.
Chinese Naval supremacy is a given, air-superiority/ supremacy over Taiwan will be established through mass usage of drones and loiter munitions
By not allowing Taiwanese troops to gather anywhere near the beachheads, an unopposed landing will be achieved
Taiwan is not Ukraine, it's an isolated island that relies on imports for almost everything
Cut their sea lines of communication, they are done for
