WWI = 11.
The entirety of this war was a ritual. The symbolism is stark and obvious.
It ended on the 11th Hour, of the 11th Day, of the 11th Month.
The Flanders Poppy blanketed the fields of blood and bones. It thrived on the blood of the dead.
The Goddess Deméter is associated with the poppy and the harvest. The soldiers (soul-diers) being the harvest.
‘The blood and bones of millions of men, horses, donkeys, dogs, and other animals richly fertilized this soil’
This article is from a military history site -
‘In the black-magic fields of Flanders and Somme, corn poppy petals are nourished by the memory of the missing’.
Poppies grew along the River Lethe, and took the memories of the dead
The Battle of Somme claimed 1,124,907 sacrificial vessels.
Moina Michael made it her mission to spread ritual magic of the blood poppy. She stated that she ‘pledged her soul’ to the endeavor.
Even today, the magic of Somme & Arras continues to be woven into our consciousness
Interestingly, Somme and Arras combined, (the two main battles of France) means ‘sum down payment’......
And now they have been selling poppies made of the bullets that killed these sacrificial victims. What a thing to wear.
