The way you treat your email list pre-BFCM could make or break your Q4
Mess it up and you could miss out on $100,000’s of revenue
Nail it, and you’ll acquire a boatload of customers & profit
Here’s how to get it right:
To start with, you need to understand actual principles
Mainly reciprocity and commitment & consistency
We’re going to use this in all of our pre-BFCM emails to hype up the event and get people ready
The gameplan pre-BFCM:
1. Boost your sender reputation and deliverability in advance
2. Use quality content to get people enjoying your emails
3. Slowly increase sending volume of campaigns
Here’s how to do this:
1. Boosting deliverability
Run campaigns that incentivise people to reply or mark your emails as important
Getting replies to your email is really good for deliverability, so solicit these asap

2. Use quality content to get people engaging with the brand
Do not run any offers 60 days out from BFCM unless you absolutely have to
We need discounts to be seen as rare when the big event comes around

3. Slowly increase sending cadence
If you follow my deliverability thread in point 1, you’ll see the long term strategies needed to be implemented
Edit all templates to have HTML in them, send good emails, segment properly, and suppress unengaged people.
Caveat: If you have unengaged people now, I would honestly keep them in the list and send to a ‘Not Suppressed’ segment for BFCM
I’ll be doing a series of threads on this, so don’t worry if you don’t understand what I mean just yet
With good content in your emails, gradually take volume up a notch
We want to be doing 3-4 campaigns per week by the time the event comes around
High sending volume is actually better for deliverability provided the content is good
So increase volume slowly starting in October
