1/ A tree starts as a seed and grows into a fully form tree. You don’t plant a fully form tree. So it is with churches.
This is also why so many church plants fail.
A lot of people want a “Christ Church” (or choose any well known church) but in their town instead of Moscow...

2/ So they set out to gather a group, call a pastor, and go for it.
But they forget that Christ Church became what it was over decades.
It went through various stages of development as it matured.

3/ No doubt that “clone church” may be able to speed up the process but we are still talking many years even if they mature 50% faster.
But most of these people aren’t that patient.
They rush the process and in doing so kill or stunt the church.

4/ You can’t recreate something that exists with a unique history and in a different context.
Church planting requires the ability to allow things to look different based on the people and place God has put you.
And that requires patience.
Consumers and idealists lack patience

5/ A lot of the calls for a new church plant here or there is the consumer asking for the ecclesiastical version of Iced Blonde Vanilla Latte with low fat milk.
