Bismarck's saying: "God made man in his own image, but Italy in the image of Judas" — Austrian poster from the First World War (ca. 1915) condemning Italy for joining the Allies.
Italy is depicted as a Bersagliere stretched out across the peninsula, stabbing Trieste with one hand while receiving payment from Britain (Foreign Minister Lord Grey) and France (Marianne) with the other.
King Victor Emmanuel attempts to hold Italy back, while Gabriele d'Annunzio is pictured at the bottom of Italy playing a harp with a bag of money labelled '30' next to him.
Prime Minister Antonio Salandra and Foreign Secretary Sidney Sonnino are also depicted in Sicily and Sardinia exchanging a contract with a '30' tassel, again implying treachery.
Bismarck, Germania and the Austro-Hungarian double-headed eagle are meanwhile depicted descending on Italy, with the rising sun behind them.
A great number of anti-Italian posters, postcards and cartoons were published in Austria following Italy's entry into the war
