My poor Islamic School boys don't understand the suspicious way the world percieves them. They don't know how the world changed on September 11th, 2001.

Being the Canadians they are, they started loudly talking about everything they dislike about America. It was mundane every day stuff that Canadians say about Americans.

They didn't see the discomfort of the white audience around them. They didn't see the stares. I did.
They didn't know that they cannot congregate in Islamic garb and loudly talk badly about America without seeming suspicious. They are kids. They don't know.

My boys weren't around when the towers fell; they weren't around when the 17 were arrested. They never had to watch their words lest a spy be around.
These naiive boys routinely make comments that the world will percieve as sinister; but they don't. They are just kids.
