As a Dem, I think it is way more dangerous to selectively cry misinfo for our political opponents & demand unis punish
Here is e.g. of Ashish Jha amplifying a trash analysis that serves his unproven policy goal (no RCT). Yet no editorial in Science. 1/5

It's no secret that Republicans are an endangered species in academic medicine and public health.
I am a Bernie Sanders supporter who wrote 2 books on strengthening the regulatory state (read them) but even I can see how this will be abused to make endangered, extinct.
There is a broader debate about how many shots are necessary for a 20 year old man. That is apolitical.
Selectively crying misinfo & demanding academic freedom be paved over is the road to hell
Someday we Dems may be in minority in University. sometimes Dems get things wrong
Ashish Jha is rubber stamping boosters for young men. He has no data. If Trump had a doc do that the same people cheerleading would be outraged.
This is dangerous stuff. Evidence for medicines are apolitical. Few people think apoliticaly (eg @walidgellad )
This Science editorial is just taking sides.
Not good.
Very bad
The road to hell in science
And where was for
Masking 2 year olds which has shit data
Boosting 12 yos who had omicron
Where was it?
Nejm and science are institutions outside of politics.
Be very careful when you mix them
Sometimes even our political opponents are right
Trump was right about schools
Academics fucked up bc we prioritized our hatred of him over data
Living in a world that selectively cries misinfo for R docs but not D docs is the most dangerous thing on earth
Far more than any of these contentious issues
I know. I know. And I say this as a progressive, they are damaging the institution of science itself
This is not good. This just fuels polarization. It will end in total destruction of science. You can't just criticize your opponent science when half of your recs are based on nothing credible
This line was insane. Whatever you think of Ladapo's study the issue of how many shots to give a 20 year old man is a real scientific debate
The right ans is not what Bourla told Jha. We need Randomized data. Not assertions from Editor of Science
We have to get out of our bubbles
Most Americans did NOT vaccinate their kids <5 and most do NOT want bivalent boosters and honestly data for both are OBJECTIVELY weak. There is a real debate B4 young men perpetually booster. Again, I say this as a Dem.
Before @FLSurgeonGen joined DeSantis he was a Black man MD PHD from Harvard, a well respected academic, whose colleagues describe as Brilliant. Those attributes don't vanish because he touched DeSantis. I don't agree with all Fl choices but to target him like this is unhelpful
DeSantis has a huge chance of being president someday. It's hard not to feel that at least some of the selective use of 'misinformation' label is trying to torpedo that.
I am an EBM purist and I believe many people cite flawed studies. But we have to fair in calling that out.
I prefer to call it out at the federal level. I did under Trump. See piece. And under Biden, as Jha/Marks and others do too much for Pfizer

I literally wrote this. And I like it, obviously, but I would never submit it or publish it in @ScienceMagazine because that would damage the neutrality of science. And yet...
