The Dark Green part of Europe neither follows an Indo-European religion, nor is it made up of states who are "clear cut descendants" of the original Indo Europeans.
Southern and Central/Atlantic Europeans are majority descendants of Neolithic Farmers (non-IE).
In fact, the average Indo-European ancestry in Southern Europe is like 25-30%. In the Atlantic, it is like 35-40% and even in England/Germany it's like 45%.
Scandinavia and the Insular Celts have 50% IE, so even then half of their ancestry is non-IE.
This is a bit like saying the Spanish Empire was founded by Mexicans, who are "clear cut descendants" of the "original Romans"
30-50% makes you a mestizo, not a "clear cut Indo European descendant"
Myceanean Greeks, Homer's "Age of Heroes" and the arguable founders of any kind of recorded "Greek nation" had less Indo-European ancestry than pretty much everyone in Tajikistan, Afghanistan and North West India-Pakistan.
Ok, so these are rough guesses I'm doing on the spot, don't take it too literally.
Approximate Yamnaya/PIE ancestry:
Tajikistan: 25-30% (Pamiri Tajiks got 30-35)
Afghanistan: 20-25%
Pakistan/North West India: 5-20% (depends on caste)
Iran: 5-15% (?)
