The Whooping Crane (Whooper)-- In 1938, there were only 15 adult Whoopers in a single migratory path. Now there are about 500 which make the journey from Canada to Texas coast twice each year.

Due to their low numbers, they are on the endangered species list and very difficult to locate. They can stand anywhere from 1.24 to 1.6 m (4 ft 1 in to 5 ft 3 in) in height.
Wingspan, at least typically, is from 2 to 2.3 m (6 ft 7 in to 7 ft 7 in).
