A lot of projects get obliterated by the harsh financial conditions of a bear market.
But many others are able to survive and thrive.
Here is a list of 6 tips that will help you to understand if a project can survive or will miserably die.
1/18👇🧵
1.
Disclaimer:
The following tips come later you did proper research on tokenomics, team, and every single aspect that contributes to creating a solid fundamental analysis framework.
These are additional aspects that strengthen the research.
2.
♦️Scanning Github
@github is a code hosting platform for version control, making it easy for developers to share code files and collaborate with fellow developers on open-source projects.
Take it as a hub where developers find new jobs.
3.
Why you might be interested in GitHub?
You're an investor, not a developer right?
By scanning the platform, you can identify crypto repositories (project's files + revision history) and therefore keeping track of new projects, active developers, and developments ongoing.
4.
During bear markets, dead projects leave the space becoming inactive under the building side.
Strong projects keep delivering and planning their moves for the future.
Search for the project you want and sort it by “least recently updated”.
Fresh repos 👉 great sign.
5.
♦️Crypto job proposals.
As happens for traditional companies, a big number of hires means that those businesses are strong and require a solid inflow of labor.
This metric can be used to gauge the robustness of a crypto project during a bear market.
6.
Instead of using general tools like Google, there are more specific ones for checking positions in Web3/Crypto:
• @Web3Career
• @CryptoJobsList
• @GetCryptoJobs
• @Upwork
Use them and see if a project is hiring or not.
7.
♦️Cash Runway
A cash runway is the amount of time when a company can operate at a loss before running out of money.
Let's make a quick example.
If a company got 100k in its reserves and spends 10k per month, it will have a 10-month cash runway.
8.
The formula is very simple:
Cash runway = cash balance / spend rate.
It's very important to know the cash runway of a company as, if it keeps shrinking, it would be an early sign of weakness and the company should find new income revenues or cut expenses.
Transparency rules.
9.
♦️Fundraising rounds.
Funding rounds provide outside investors the opportunity to invest cash in a growing company in exchange for equity, or partial ownership of that company.
Series A, B, and C are necessary ingredients for a business that decides to bootstrap.
10.
This is something that crypto projects can do during a bear market.
Fundraising successful: a strong belief in the company from investors + money to grow more.
Fundraising failure: no interest, better move away.
11.
♦️Revenues
Revenues is the most important thing for crypto companies to thrive.
So where can you check revenues or income streams?
@tokenterminal is a helpful tool that enables users to view data for any DeFi protocol such as real revenues, treasury etc
12.
You can also check where the yields come from with detailed breakdowns.
Always remember that crypto companies are first of all businesses.
If they don't generate money they will fail.
No one in this space works for charity purposes.

• Additional tip. 🎯
Scroll @DuneAnalytics to check On-Chain data and gauge the volume of DEXs, the market share, and other interesting features to have a better outlook on the project you're scanning.
Here's the dashboard if you want to try it.

I use 5 tools together:
• @DuneAnalytics
• @DefiLlama
• @nansen_ai
• @tokenterminal
• @etherscan
This method allows me to have a clear view of on-chain data, TVL, revenues, and so on.
15.
♦️Social platforms.
Good and working projects always update the community and debate regarding new developments.
Bad ones instead disappear from the scenes leaving the dust behind them.
16.
Make sure to check official projects pages on Twitter, Discord, and Telegram channel to see if they’re constantly active.
Another tip is to ask for OG community members that might help you to understand better if there are new big plans for the future.
17.
To summarize:
• Scan Github
• Crypto job proposals
• Cash runway
• Fundraising
• Revenues
• Social platforms
Always pretend transparency and make sure that projects clearly reply to your questions.
They don't have to hide anything if they want your money.
