Too many of us are constantly in motion but never get anywhere...
But too few choose what's essential and give up the rest
Here are some principles to regain control and contribute to something that matters
You can both be overworked and not productive
Trying to "fit it all in" or "have it all" only leads to:
- stress
- disappointment
- asking "why you can't do it when "others" can."
Learn to play your own game
Avoid the "the downward spiral of too much.'
Both my ADHDish professional clients and I get caught in this trap
Too many options β†’ β€œI must do them all”
Too many "priorities" β†’ ineffective actions
Too much β€œineffectiveness” β†’ feel worthless
But you don't have to
If you want to start going somewhere, start making you valuable by doing the following
1. recognize your needs
2. know these are valuable
3. eliminate everything else
Important mindset shifts to make to do what matters
Avoid thinking:
"I have to"
"It's all-important"
"Where do I fit it in?"
Start to say:
"I choose to"
"Do the few things that matter"
"What are the trade-offs/consequences"
