Lots of misconceptions about Sea Ports in Nigeria.
Sea Ports in Nigeria can only exist in States on the Atlantic coastline, i.e. Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Cross River.
Outside of these, only RIVER Ports exist.
There are no 'inland' Sea Ports.

By reason of the limitations of geography, there are no Sea Ports OR possibilities of Sea Ports in the SE, NC, NW and NE.
Only the SW and SS have those possibilities. (Even in the SW, only 3 Coastal States).
The others have to make do with River Ports and Inland Dry Ports.
3/
Currently Nigeria has 4 River Ports (RP), in SE & NC: Onitsha, Oguta, Baro, Lokoja
&
7 licensed Inland Dry Ports (IDP) (mainly in the North, for obvious reason of geography): Jos, Kano, Funtua, Maiduguri, Kaduna, Aba, Ibadan
NB. There's no doubt more RPs and IDPs will emerge
As for Sea Ports, we have several, but so far ONLY ONE DEEP-SEA Port, in Lekki, Lagos.
To be a Deep-Sea Port, must have sufficient water depth to accommodate ships of a certain "draft" (depth) — debatable but typically at least 15m.
Lekki Port = 16.5m
Apapa = ~13m
Onne = ~12m
Every time a Sea-Port conversation comes up, there are always marginalization-themed queries, along these lines: what of South East?
The simple fact is that the SE of Nigeria is the only southern zone of 🇳🇬 that is not geographically positioned to have Sea-Ports. Only RPs & IDPs.

The Port conversations for the SE, NC, NW and NE should FOCUS on River Ports and Inland Dry Ports (IDPs).
The NW State Govts have been very committed to developing IDPs. Between 2018 and 2023, Kaduna, Kano and Katsina States have supported private investors to develop IDPs.

Great opportunity here for incoming Gov @alexottiofr to support private sector to develop the licensed Inland Dry Port in Aba, just as Kano/Kaduna/Katsina have done
Imo Gov @Hope_Uzodimma1 working w/ FG to dredge Urashi River, which links Oguta Lake/River Port to the Atlantic

Still on this matter of geography - there's no point crying about geography.
It's like complaining that your State or Region does not have massive hydropower potential. There's a reason why Nigeria's MAIN hydropower potential lies in this Central belt.
It's called GEOGRAPHY!
9/
Instead of focusing and complaining endlessly about what geography hasn't blessed you with, why not focus on your strengths and advantages, whatever it might be (depending on location): solar power, hydropower, farmland, coastal access/proximity, transport connections, etc.
A PS.
A friend has pointed out that, even if we could have SEVERAL Deep-Sea Ports in Nigeria, Nigeria DOES NOT NEED, at this point, several Deep-Sea Ports. Basically, each new Deep-Sea Port that we successfully build makes the next one less immediately necessary/realistic.
PPS.
