Last time I was set off by Rob Lee insouciantly commenting about how the offensive was demonstrating just how much better western equipment was at crew and passenger survivability. This is at best insouciant (2)
But this time it is this "gem" [💩] of an article in The Guardian - which I used to pay good money to subscribe to and read daily - about the UKR counteroffensive, and 'deconstructing' the events of that infamous 'scrum pile' (3)

The article then cites this UKR staff sergeant - Valery Markus - who says they only lost a few guys but killed many many more Russians as proof that the way the Russians have presented this is just propaganda ... (5)
One bloody problem. One huge bloody problem. You can see this guy literally make the numbers up on the fly from his head on the spot in this clip that they link - watch the 01:00 - 01:30 - you can see him making it up! (6)
Ah but then the article concludes with this "gem" [💩] within a "gem" [💩] I will quote in full "The officials suggested there was likely to be “grinding, costly warfare” for many months to come." ... (7)
... "“This is incredibly difficult. Russia has generally put up a good defence from their well-prepared positions and falling back to tactical lines …" ... (8)
... "The idea that the Russians were just going to melt away and the Ukrainians were going to drive straight through their defensive line was in people’s wildest dreams.” (9)
To which I can only say:
OH REALLY MOTH******ERS?! BECAUSE I HAVE F***ING RECEIPTS!!! (10)
OH REALLY MOTH******ERS?! BECAUSE I HAVE F***ING RECEIPTS!!! (10)
So, poor morale, doubt Russian regular units especially Motor Rifle units can perform, poorly trained and unmotivated conscripts, blocking units, and possible collapse, pretty much hitting all the cliches and an example of what apparently people "did not say" (13)
Example 2 Franz Stefan Grady in Foreign Policy Magazine with an appropriately cloying title "Ukraine's Longest Day" foreignpolicy.com

There is again - with Gady and Lee both making not very honorable appearances (17)

These men are all former military officers or are very very connected to serving military personnel and their thinking. NOBODY SAID THE RUSSIANS WOULD JUST RUN AWAY EH?!
