This turning point was openly acknowledged by Tunku.
The culprits : Syed Ja’afar Albar and Dr M. The mastermind was someone else, who ultimately gained power.

Lee Kuan Yew says in his Singapore Story memoirs that the only one who seem to have understood what he was trying to build for Malaysia was Tun Dr Ismail but then he was not sure he would have been able to overcome the Malay Ultras in UMNO.
The Singapore bus has left. We need to stop doing whatever BN was doing to destroy the country and start adopting sensible progressive policies. Stopping crime and corruption immediately will be the foundation for real nation building.
There is not only no one inspirational leader who was of equal quality of LKY in UMNO, there was none in Opposition including DAP too. LKY and his batchmates in early PAP was one of a kind unmatched by anyone elsewhere in any country.
