A Bedouin mother and her child, Saudi Arabia, 1948
The Bedouins are a nomadic Arab tribe originating from the Syrian and Arabian deserts but have since spread throughout the Middle East, North Africa, the Levant, and other parts of Asia.
The English word bedouin comes from the Arabic badawī, which means "desert dweller." Most are Muslim, though a few Christian tribes exist.
They have common practices such as herding goats and camels and primarily have a dairy-based diet. Over 25 million Bedouin people are living in the world today.
