Hale End is full of stars. The most likely to break into the first team next is Myles Lewis-Skelly⭐️
Crazy athlete, insane ball-carrier with physicality and tackling ability💥
There’s plenty of areas for improvement for Arsenal but they may have internal solutions💭

💥Academy Baller…
Myles Lewis-Skelly🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
Club: Arsenal
Nationality: England
Position: CM, DM, AM
Preferred Foot: Left
Height: 5’10”/178cm
Age: 17
Strengths: ball-carrying, turn radius, physicality, athleticism, tackling, finishing
Development Areas: weak-foot, la pausa
Myles Lewis-Skelly is a sensational ball-carrier
A small turn radius due to his shorter strides and close control. When he carries the ball it’s like it’s stuck to his feet and he can beat 3,4,5 players
A valuable trait as he’s able to eat up ground & invade the opponent’s half
Lewis-Skelly’s agile dribbling has often lead to him taking on many players and then executing the final pass or finish efficiently. His ball-carrying is certainly his standout trait. MLS is a 2-way dribbler which makes him hard to predict when taking on players.
Although Myles Lewis-Skelly is smaller and a technical player, his physicality is very impressive. Myles has strength in duels and rides challenges effectively. This physicality is partially what makes him such a good ball-carrier and tackler.
Lewis-Skelly has great athleticism. His engine enables him to press all game and cover a high amount of ground and he’s also a player with quick acceleration. He can create separation in a split second due to his shorter stride.
The Hale End star is defensively intelligent. With his low centre of gravity, tight turn radius and core strength he’s able to come into challenges at a lower angle with real strength coming away with the ball. Those style of ball-winners like Kanté, a much lower level of course.
Myles Lewis-Skelly has scored some great goals, when in and around the box he’s shown good finishing ability. Calmly slotting the ball past the keeper. He’s composed in the final third.
In the final third he takes-on players and creates goals like a number 10 or a winger but at the same time is a great tackler off the ball to win it back. Such a complete prospect.
You’d think because Lewis-Skelly is smaller he wouldn’t be the best in aerial duels but that’s not the case. His athleticism also includes so much power in his legs giving him a good vertical jump to win headers. This goal is a great example of this.
Finding areas for Lewis-Skelly to improve isn’t easy as he’s such a complete profile, it’s honestly mainly about him getting minutes at senior level to transition these performances over to the first team. There are a few smaller areas to improve on.
Lewis-Skelly is quite left foot dominant, whenever he uses his right foot he shows good ability with it, he just doesn’t use it enough. Once adding this, he’ll be even more press resistant as he’ll consistently receive and pass the ball with both feet.
Myles is a high intensity player with a ‘dribble-first’ mentality. He’s much more focussed on taking-on his man than dictating the pace of the game through passing. He lacks la pausa. His technical ability in terms of passing, especially his mentality towards it needs improving.
MLS’s ability to take on players is next level, but to become even more complete I’d love to see him control games through his passing. Creating from deep, recycling possession, passing through the lines, pinging long passes wide, these are all areas where he needs to improve
However, this isn’t about ability, he has this in his locker. Myles just needs coaching and a shift in mentality. Once he does this I have no doubts he’ll become a quality player in the future for Arsenal. The type that if he was at another club, teams would bid £60m-£100m for.
Lewis-Skelly’s physical profile, carrying prowess & press resistance makes him so versatile. He’s played 6, 8 or 10. But I also believe he could play as an inverted LB due to his skillset. Once he shows more advanced creation from deep, this could be where he breaks into the team
Sometimes as an academy player versatility can be the route to breaking into the first team. Look at fellow Hale End product Bukayo Saka. He broke into the Arsenal team playing as a LB and was so consistent showing his ability to learn and adapt, later he went back to the wings.
MLS is one of the next Hale End academy players ready to break through into the first team soon. He’s been training with the first team for a while and I expect him to get some game time this season, maybe even soon as he’s travelled with the first team squad before games too.
Myles Lewis-Skelly & Ethan Nwaneri especially are 2 Hale End prospects both with very high ceilings.
If they fulfil their potential Arsenal have potentially saved £150m of future transfer fees to bring in players of their potential quality.
The future…
Honestly can’t wait to see Lewis-Skelly get some minutes in the first team for Arsenal. He’s the future of the Arsenal and England’s midfield. Soon come.
