It's astonishing as to how our Hindu brothers are unaware about the hundreds of meat eating instances in their own hindu scriptures especially in Ramayana.
Compiling a few references here in various languages that would bust the myth of ‘Shakhahari India’ 👇
A thread 🧵:
Since it's the burning topic in India where the supposed ram mandir's inauguration is held, there's been a meat ban across the town. God knows why because Ram himself ate meat.

🔶 Atharva ved 6:71:1
“What food I eat of varied form and nature, food whether horse, sheep, goat, or bullock…”
I thought of making an extensive thread showing references of all sacred books like Vedas, Upanishads, Puranas and Smritis but that would make the thread extraordinarily lengthy and hard to read. So for now I'll just stick to gods eating meat.
🔶 Krishna
In Krishna's marriage ceremony with Rukmini, One lakh cows, two lakhs of deer 4 lakhs of rabbits and tortoises were slaughtered and cooked.
Mindblowing stuff isn't it?
🔶 Shiva
Vayu Purana praises shiva in the following way : “Hail to the one greedy of raw and cooked meat” 🔥
Views of notable Hindu scholars on the matter,
🔶 Swami Vivekananda
“There was a time in this very India when, without eating beef, no Brahmin could remain a Brahmin”
“Instances are found in the Ramayana and the Mahabharata of the drinking of wine and the taking of meat by Rama and Krishna”
Swami Vivekananda advises a disciple :
“So, I say, eat large quantities of fish and meat, my boy!”
Swami Vivekananda says : “Whatever one or the other may say, the real fact, however, is that the nations who take animal food are always, as a rule, notably brave, heroic and thoughtful”
He goes on to say that because of vegetarianism no 'REAL MAN' arose amidst Hindus.
🔶 Adi Shankarcharya, the supreme authority in Vedic interpretation and the first shankarcharya ever has refuted those who are against animal killing/sacrifice in his famous commentary of Brahma Sutras.
Also, these are some facts :
- India is arguably the largest beef importing nation
- 8 in every 10 Indians are Non-vegetarian
- Indians ordered 63115200 Non-veg Biryani in 2023 only on Swiggy
- If South India had 100 people only 6 of them would be vegetarian.
