Why is the Purī Śaṅkarācārya opposing the method of Prāṇa Pratiṣṭhā conceived by BJP? The following are hints from the Śāstras.
This is an effort to understand the Jagadguru. He has been attacked for upholding what is there in Śāstra.
1. It is planned that there will be five people inside the Garbhagṛha for Prāṇa Pratiṣṭhā.
Comments- We understand the role of the Purohita. But we fail to understand what the other four viz. Modi, Yogi, Governor of UP and Mohan Bhagwat will do inside the Garbhagṛha.
2. As we understand, Modi will touch the Vigraha at the time of Prāṇa Pratiṣṭhā.
Comments - Is this being done for any other reason than political? In case it is to fulfill some Śāstrīya requirements, we wish to know the same.
3. Prāṇa Pratiṣṭhā if done incorrectly will lead to calamity in the country. This issue has been completely set aside by BJP IT cell who are paid money to project their leader as higher than Hindu Gods.
Issue of wrongly done Prāṇa Pratiṣṭhā is to be given prime importance.
Given that this is a Rāma mandira, it is reasonable to insist Vaiṣnava Āgamas will he followed.
What do the Vaiṣnava Āgamas say about arcanā of Vigraha by anadhikāris?
The Viṣṇusaṁhitā holds that if an utpāta happens, then Bhagavān's Pratimā, Pīṭha and so on...
... will become unfit even to touch. (Paṭala 25)
1. What is an utpāta as per Viṣṇusaṁhitā?
Even arcanā by a person who doesn't have dīkṣā (E.g. Modi) is an utpāta (many utpātas listed in Paṭala 25).
2. What is the effect of utpātas?
The Vigraha becomes unfit for worship. If there is a delay in niṣkṛti (remedial action) then there will be disease and misery caused by Pretas that enter the temple.
There are more such evidences from Vaiṣnava Āgamas that make us conclude that the way in which the Rama Mandira inauguration is being planned will bring troubles. This is perhaps the reason the Purī Śaṅkarācārya refused to attend.
More evidences as time permits. Hearty thanks to respected friend Pranav for having sent references.
