DO NOT BUY ANY COOKWARE UNTIL YOU'VE READ THIS THREAD!
This thread will guide you on HOW to choose the right cookware and how to maintain it for longevity.
1. Non-Stick Cookware (Teflon);
Mostly frying pans and saucepans, these pans are coated with a material called Teflon.
The coating on this pan allows you to fry, cook without your food burning.
Although convenient, this pan is not
ideal for cooking especially on high heat.
This is because after a period of time, the chemical used in coating starts to leech inside your food and may cause harm to your body.
Only use rubber, silicone, or wooden utensils and clean with a foam.
2. Ceramic non stick: Unlike
Teflon nonstick pans, CNS are not coated with chemicals which makes them relatively safer to use.
They are best used on low to medium heat with a wooden, silicone or rubber utensil.
3. Enameled cast iron:
These pans are more durable, heavy and costly. They are great for slow cooking, brassing, stewing and baking.
To care for this cookware, soak in hot water, and scrub with a soft sponge.
4. Cast iron: This cookware is
constructed with a heavy metal material known as Cast Iron. They are excellent for cooking it absorb heat well, retain heat and distribute it evenly.
Good for high-heat cooking, browning meat, frying and baking
Lastly...
5. Stainless steel: Safe to say, this is the Ronaldo of all cookware.
These wares are less dramatic and expensive, need less attention and are durable.
Great for high-heat cooking and all-round cooking and last
