Back on the ground outside the UCLA Palestine solidarity encampment. Easily a couple thousand out the east side of the encampment with a few rows of riot cops between the solitary rally and the camp itself.
Even more people are roaming around the UCLA campus in support of Palestine. Iโ€™d say thereโ€™s almost an equal amount of Palestine supporters on east and west side. The LAPD are trying to control the situation but keeping their distance. Even with the low flying helicopter.
LAPD starting to roll in, they stopped at the north checkpoint before retreating. random moves to get the crowd scattered. As they rolled in people screamed at them for what happened last night.
The LAPD took over a corner on the other side of the occupation to hold up for now. It might seem random but I think the police are trying to divide the crowd and wear people out before 1AM. So far thatโ€™s what the rumor mill says eviction time will be.
So they LAPD has tried to cut the small march in half. Gave up, tried to charge into the encampment and then gave up again. The crowd went wild and after that the police retreated back into a building.
Protesters reinforcing the the barricades to the Gaza encampment to try to either stop or at least slow down the looming eviction. Both the north and south checkpoint have been reinforced with dumpsters and/or stone benches.
Itโ€™s the same game still, every now and again the police move and you see swarms of people going to one of the two checkpoints to try and stop the police. Iโ€™m doing patrols to see whatโ€™s up around the area.
So the organizers have asked for quiet time so that people in the encampment can sleep. That puts everyone outside the camp on barricade watch. The current rumor is still 1AM so now we wait and see whatโ€™s gonna go down. It has weird DMZ vibes right now with the choppers.
Another dispersal order but itโ€™s like barely audible. Even without chanting in the background itโ€™s still hard to make out.
Something just detonated in the camp. Pretty loud and now the crowd is loud again. Another dispersal order is going off again.
Protesters just cut off additional reinforcements for the raid on the UCLA Gaza camp.
Protesters chanting and the LAPD forming a very far off riot line after being chased off earlier. Thereโ€™s hundreds of protesters facing off with maybe two dozen riot cops.
Another standoff between the protesters and the police. As they try to enter the occupation again. The police havenโ€™t made any movement but this is the most heavily armed and armored cops Iโ€™ve seen tonight.
Canโ€™t see them but you can hear detonations going off in the camp while these protesters are in a standoff with the police.
The police just bombing these kids now. Itโ€™s a flashbang every few seconds now.
Now seriously every few seconds. This will cause permanent damage to peoples hearing.
Frontline fighting for the occupation. The police are making this into a war zone.
The fighting continues. The LAPD to the left the camp is purposely trying to obscure any recording of them with bright lights but the Palestine supporters are fighting for every inch.
LAPD just shot a protester in the fucking face. A psycho with the 40mm gun is just pointing the shit at everyone. The center light is attached to the 40mm launcher.
The occupation is lost. The LAPD are slowly marching in and flash banging or shooting anyone with less lethals. People are evacuating now via the west steps.
The both shooters here kept targeting me with their launchers as well. Even tho I have a fucking camera and press pass. I play by the rules and they still point their weapons at me and many other people who arenโ€™t doing anything wrong.
Protesters are calling for a literal last stand against the police to defend the occupation. Thereโ€™s less flashbangs now but the police line is targeting anyone near the front line now. Theyโ€™re building a new barricade to slow the police line one last time.
Protesters are linking arms and refusing to leave with the riot line readying to move in.
Still in a standoff. The protesters are at the edge of the park they occupied but have barricaded the exit. The police moved their line to match the protesters. The sun is starting to come up as well. The fight has literally lasted all night long.
Protesters were trying to block the prison buses leaving with their comrades. The LAPD fired a warning flashbang to try to scare people away.
Protesters got ahead and tried to block the buses with dumpsters. Sheriffs dept is here in riot gear moving them back.
Police attacked the crowd to get them to move out of the way of the prison bus with those arrested today. Lots of flash bangs and less lethals launched just now at the UCLA campus. Along with about 3-5 new arrests.
The fighting is finally over. It looks like the camp on the ucla campus looks like it was hit by a tornado. The police didnโ€™t even clean, they just broke the protesters things.
