How to be a good mentor to someone else (thread below)
1) Ask the person what they want in their career.
2) Listen to their aspirations.
3) Ask them what you can do to help them. If they donβt have an answer, you might suggest possibilities in the form of:
3a) Spending time talking with them and answering their questions
3b) Spending time to give feedback on their work
3c) Looking out for opportunities to bring to their attention that they helps them with their aspirations
3d) Helping them connect and develop a relationship with another person who could help them
Do some of the above. Keep that person and their aspirations in the back of your mind, so that when you come across that might be useful to that person, share it with them.
