Critics often use the following ayah to suggest Qur’an condones sex with minors: 65:4
وَاللَّائِي لَمْ يَحِضْنَ
...and for those who have not yet menstruated...
Sadly, for the critics, Qur’an doesn’t endorse it when the ayah is seen in it’s linguistic context. Thread 1/
2/
Ayah talks about waiting period for divorced women who for whatever (medical or otherwise) reasons have delays or interruptions in their monthly cycle.
3/ The phrase وَاللَّائِي لَمْ يَحِضْنَ ‘and those not yet menstruated’ in isolation from context can refer to both pre pubescent girls and adult women.
But the ayah says مِن نِّسَائِكُم 'from your women'- and the word Nisa cannot be applied to minors (pre-pubescent girls).
4/ The Surah contextually begins with يَا أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ إِذَا طَلَّقْتُمُ النِّسَاءَ 'O Prophet if you divorce woman'. Again word Nisa is used to refer to women.
5/ Adult women may have amenorrhoea (absence of menstruation) due to pregnancy, breastfeeding, menopause, contraceptives and some medications, uterine scarring, or hormonal imbalances due to medical or lifestyle factors.
6/ Some commentators may have included young girls. However, without a linguistic support.
Appealing to these commentators and ignoring the sound linguistic, contextual and physiological analysis demonstrates intellectual bankruptcy and utter desperation of the critics.
