Why Bisq?
Many of you already know. Please share this thread with those who don't.
Bisq is to other exchanges the way Bitcoin is to banks.
โฌ SEE WHY IN TEN TWEETS โฌ
Why run your own Bitcoin node? You already know: trust no one. Sovereignty. No asking permission.
That's the whole point of Bitcoinโ€”no compromises.
So why compromise when ๐˜ต๐˜ณ๐˜ข๐˜ฅ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜จ bitcoin?
Like Bitcoin, Bisq is open-source software.
You don't trade on a websiteโ€”you trade on a program on your computer directly with others on a peer-to-peer network.
It's kind of like bittorrent, but for bitcoin.
So, also like Bitcoin, when you run Bisq, you become master of your own node on a peer-to-peer network.
Except instead of validating blocks for the Bitcoin network, you provide liquidity to the Bisq network.
The similarities don't end there.
๐Ÿšจ Just like Bitcoin enables you to be your own bank, Bisq allows you to be your own exchange. ๐Ÿšจ
Once you see that, the case for Bisq is clear, and it's hard to go back to anything else.
Suddenly, the antics of other exchanges just become silly and demeaning...
- you can only trade after we approve your id selfie
- but cannot be in certain countries
- and cannot withdraw to certain addresses
- btw we closed your account, can't say why, sorry lol kthxbye
๐Ÿ˜
And they make you jump through all those hoops, for what?
So they can one day be hacked, expose your personal data to the world, and lose your funds?
And if you think that's bad, it gets much darker...
Hence Bisq.
No servers to hack.
No scummy scalawags to trust.
No permission to ask.
The way Bitcoin is supposed to be in the first place.
