New tutorial!?
Today I'm sharing a deeply personal post on Detecting #COVID19 in X-ray images with #Keras and #TensorFlow 2.0:
pyimg.co ?
#DeepLearning #Python #MachineLearning #ArtificialIntelligence #DataScience
See rest of thread below for more info 1/11
As mentioned in the post, this is *not* the most scientific article I've ever written. Far from it, in fact.
The methods and datasets used are *not* worthy of publication. But they serve as a starting point for those who need to feel like theyโ€™re doing something to *help*.
2/11
I am not doing well.
Over the past 36 hours I've been harassed and attacked to the point of mental instability by a small group of people outside the PyImageSearch community who took the following tweet out of context (ie., the "92% accurate" part). 3/11
Despite my best efforts to make it explicitly clear that the tutorial was *not* an academic publication and instead just an educational resource for CV/DL practitioners, some did not relent.
A few even continued after I said "Stop. This is a mental health concern."

Unfortunately, this is what happens in a crisis.
Even some of the best, brightest, and well meaning people people may hurt and harm others, despite their best intentions.
They are scared, they are frightened, they need an outlet.
I don't blame them.
5/11
I'm scared too.
Yes, by the virus but *more so* by other people.
Writing is my outlet. I'm an author. It's quite literally what I do. It gives me energy.
This post is for me and for anyone else who needs a safe space, a haven, and a "distraction through education"
6/11
If you need such a haven I have 350+ free tutorials on the PyImageSearch blog
pyimagesearch.com
I've categorized, cross-referenced, and compiled them on my "Get Started" page
pyimagesearch.com
"Deep Learning" and "Face Applications" are the most popular FWIW

Additionally, starting tomorrow, I'll be putting my paid content on an "emergency sale".
Iโ€™ve received many emails from PyImageSearch readers who want to use this downtime to study Computer Vision and Deep Learning rather than going stir crazy quarantined in their homes.
8/11
This sale isnโ€™t meant for profit & itโ€™s certainly not planned. Iโ€™ve spent my entire weekend working & sick, trying to put all this together
Instead, itโ€™s sale to help people, like me (and perhaps like yourself), who are struggling to find their safe space during this mess.

Being a small business owner who is not only responsible for myself and my family, but the lives and families of my team, can be terrifying and overwhelming.
Peoples lives, including small businesses, will be *destroyed* by this virus.
That scares the shit out of me.
10/11
Feel free to join in or not. Itโ€™s totally okay. We all process these tough times in our own ways
But if you need rest, if you need a haven, if you need a safe space, if you need a "retreat through education" โ€” Iโ€™ll be here to help
Thank you for reading this and stay safe

P.S. I'd like to give a shout to @jeremyphoward, @elisadoucette, @LearnOpenCV, @chrismiliki, @imnotarobot2020, @rabarar, @DavidPraiseKalu, @dannyackerman, @lucaruzzola, @baijorge and every1 else who checked-in on me yesterday.
You are all rockstars and I couldn't do this w/o you
