Some Foundations For The Truth of Islam
-This is mainly for Muslims and those who have a general interest in why we believe Islam is the truth.
[This isn't for debate, so don't attempt on debating on this thread]
/1
1- The inimitability of the Qur'an
The Qur'an poses a challenge for mankind to produce a surah like it in 2:23
-The major contention that is proposed in regards to this challenge is that it is based upon a subjective criterion, but let's explain how it isn't /2
What does it mean by "surah like it" in regards to Arabic poetry?
There are sixteen al-bihar which is how a poem moves according to its rhythmic patterns and each of these bihar rhyme differently and ALL of the pre-Islamic poetry falls in either one of these bihar's /3
So one of these challenges is to produce 3 lines that do not fall in either of these 16 bihar, that it isn't rhyming prose, nor like soothsayers speak, not like normal speech and that it should contain meaning and any gibberish as Abdur Raheem Green mentions. /4
As it is shown, when the Qur'an was revealed it had shocked all of the pagan Arabs as it was out of their bounds, therefore, they accused the Prophet PBUH as a forger etc.
The Qur'an was also revealed in 7 ahruf yet NONE of the seven tribes could produce anything similar. /5
The Qur'an challenge is also for anyone to produce something like it using the finite grammatical rules, literacy and linguistic devices and the 28 letters that are within the Arabic Language. Therefore, it is an objective challenge.
/6
Here are several people who have attested to the inimitability of the Qur'an..
/7
It is also worth mentioning that 7th Century Arabs were the best placed at taking this challenge and this is because Arabic had reached its peak eloquence and they lived within an environment that had all the conditions to meet this challenge. /8
Also, no one within the 7th century was ever able to meet this challenge and produce anything like the Qur'an. They failed to produce a similar Arabic text that could match the Qur'an's linguistic and literacy features. Even some reverted to Islam due to its inimitability /9
So we have derived that there exists
-A challenge
-7th Century Arabs were in the best place to take it and even attested to its inimitability
-They couldn't meet this challenge
This shows the Qur'an itself is a literacy miracle and was something that was unable to be replicated
Now, there is much more to disucss about the Qur'an but I will leave that for another thread iA,
Next up is our hadith,
We need to show the reliability of these hadith first so here it is:
Source: AC, Jonathan. The Canonization of Al-Bukhārī and Muslim 2007
All of history is dependant upon testimony when we want to know what someone said. For instance, if we found a letter, what would be the determining factors to see if that letter was a forgery or if it was fabricated in any way?
Hadith's have a isnad system which is a
chain of narration of who reported what the Prophet PBUH said. Within this chain of narration, we have all of the biographies of the people and know if they were unknown, trustworthy etc.
So in order to disregard hadith, we have to disregard most of the other histories...
There are no disputes on this. We also have grade ratings of our hadiths however what I will showcase now will either be Sahih or Mutawattir (which is a mass chain or reporters on one sighting)
Let's Begin on Prophecies:
In order for a Prophet to be a true one, we must test his Prophecies, so here are some..
1-Abu Lahab
2-Battle of Badr
3-Battle of Mut'ah
4-Hellfire
5-6 in sequence
6-Whisper in daughters ear
7-Martydorm of Umar and Othman RA
8- Ammar's fate
9-Riba being everywhere
Since we have established that these are clear cut Prophecies and were very explicit, the hadith is reliable and that he was known as a trustworthy character by his enemies, we can come to the conclusion, he was a true prophet.
Only an all-knowing entity can know this
Miracles-Miracles can occur once you establish a God that exists, which isn't an issue. Now, I will only be sharing mutawatir reports again, which are just so so reliable.
1-The Tree wiping
2-Increasing Water Supply
3-Increasing Food Supply
4-Answering Prayers
Once you realize there is such a historical backing on the reliability of the Hadith and these events, you'll realize that none of his companions and the people around him believed blindly, however, he brought irrefutable proofs for them that they were utterly convinced.
I hope this gives you an insight on why Islam is not based upon blind beliefs and that we know its the truth due to irrefutable proofs. May Allah bless all of you guys and give you an interest in learning and defending the deen.
