The documentary explores the South Korean intelligence agency (National Intelligence Service, NIS) and how they imprison defectors, coerce them to confess as spies through torture, and even work with human trafficking brokers to kidnap North Koreans as defectors to the South.
Kim Ryeon Hi was hoping to visit a cousin and go on vacation in China when broker by the border tricked her, stole her passport, and she was brought to the South. The NIS not only refused to send her back, but refuses to issue her a passport to leave South Korea as well.
The documentary also takes a critical look into the various accusations of human rights violations in North Korea from defectors, and the people/groups backing those defectors.
