How to stop an overthinking spiral 🤯
A THREAD👇🏾💛
Who else automatically overthinks the worst when they’re uncertain about the outcome of a situation? 👀
Do you constantly find yourself overthinking? 👀
1) Identify when you are overthinking.
The first step to dealing with something is always acknowledging it.
Try writing your thoughts down and looking at them.
It’s usually not until we see our thoughts on paper that we realise they might just be a tad irrational.
2) Ask yourself questions.
Here are a few:
• Is this really the case?
• Is this true?
• Are there any positive possibilities?
• Am I worrying about something beyond my control?
3) Give yourself a time limit.
Plan some time to solely think about your worries.
Tell yourself that you’ll only think about the situation and the possible outcomes for 20 minutes.
In this time, list all the possible solutions (Celutions 🤪) and once the timer is up, move on.
4) Believe in yourself.
Think about all the tough situations you’ve been through.
You’ve handled them all and you’re standing strong here today.
This is your reminder that you CAN get through difficult times.
5) Be kind to yourself.
- Remember to take some deep breaths.
- Remember that overthinking is natural.
- Remember that there are ways you can help yourself.
You’ve got this 💛
