A list of some scholars who attributed al-Ibanah to Abil Hasan al-Ash'ari
📙 Thread 📙
Background: Al-Ibanah is a book of creed authored by the founder of the Ash'ari school of creed: Abul Hasan al-Ash'ari.
In this book he opposes figurative interpretations of the attributes of Allah and instead chooses to accept and affirm them as they came.
Obviously this opposes the Ash'ari doctrine, so they try to disprove that he wrote this book and make excuses as to why he authored it.
Here's a short non-exhaustive list of some scholars who affirmed that he did indeed author this book.
Note: the author is a shi'i, however he lived extremely close to the time of Al-Ash'ari (d. 385AH)
And let's not even get started with Ibn Asakir, Ibn Taymiyyah, and Ibn al-Qayyim.
Jazakumullahu for reading.
