- Tissues can be obtained from :
• Biopsies : by aspiration through a needle , swabbing , scrapping or excision .
• autopsies : examination of dead body and it's organs

الخطوات اللي بنسويها لما نستلم العينة واهم خطوة بالبداية انو لازم العينة تكون عليها بيانات المريض وراح نتكلم عن باقي الخطوات بالتفصيل

Gross examination : describing the specimen and replacing it into plastic cassette.
Fixation : to preserve cells & tissue constituents . (10% Formalin)
Dehydration : to remove fixative & water from the tissue and replacing it by dehydrating fluid .

Clearing : replacement of dehydrating fluid with agent that is miscible with both embedding medium & dehydrating fluid (xylene).
Impregnation : replacement of clearing agent with embedding medium.

Tissue sectioning : tissues are cutted into small sections (Microtome) .
staining : by H&E stain .
Mounting : used to preserve & support a stained section and to adhere the coverslip to the slide.
After reporting the diagnosis..the lab should keep the slides if needed .
