2/ How did they get these 17-20 y/o GBS carriers in boot camp to sneeze for their study? “Sneezing was induced by the powdered seedpods of the prickly nightshade (Solanum eleanifolium).”
3/ This experiment leaves much to be desired. What if the infection is viral? Is spread different in active infection from colonization? There was an agar plate at 5.5 feet and 9.5 feet - what was happening between these plates?
4/ It should be no surprise that the reality is more complicated than 6 feet. Numerous variables are involved, making different scenarios higher/lower risk for transmission.
5/ In sum, the 6-foot rule is lacking. Limiting the spread of this bug will require more than two meters of distance.
