Al-Akhbar newspaper trying hard to link the #Lebanonprotests to the west by accusing activists and groups of receiving funds to create movements in the streets. Years ago, if a Shiite opposed Hezbollah we were described to be the Shiites of the US Embassy. (1)
Today, if someone is an activist in the October 17th movement belonging to almost any group - Al - Akhbar are describing them to be "The boys of the embassy" i.e. accused of getting paid to organized protests. So, question: is the Anti-BDL group included in this description?
I remember reading similar scenarios related to the Arab Spring and Syria - Syrian activists accused of getting paid by the UK and others "to create an opposition and cause disruption" as if Bashar Al Assaad is the ultimate humanitarian. Al-Akhbar reminding us of the story.
And of course when all arguments fail, they pin new accusations on the #Lebanonprotests and the civil society as a whole, accusing them of wanting to "target the resistance" in Lebanon" because EVERYTHING is about Hezbollah and its resistance in this life.
Not to mention conspiracy theories where this Al-Akhbar analysis raises questions about the civil society again, discusses how activists who are regularly chasing down politicians to restaurants might create sectarian tension and lead the country to disruption. 😶
The whole country is facing a total failure of both governance and economy, in the era of Hezbollah, where Hezbollah has the upper hand controlling every scenario, not to mention the party controlling security aspects of every corner in the country.
Its the painful truth that Hezbollah is trying to diverge the attention from. Not once has any Hezbollah official admit that the party is a partner in every failed aspect #Lebanon is facing. While these activists that Al Akhbar is criticizing dared to raise the voice.
