Maharao Sir Khengarji Jadeja III of Kutch, Gujarat
The visionary Maharaja drastically modernized Kutch in his 66 yrs long reign & made it a 20th century model state for the nation.
He laid down the foundation of Kandla Port, the most largest & most important port in India.
He promoted Kutch State Railway, constructed a narrow-gauge line owned & managed by Princely State of Kutch, the railway line connected Tuna Port and Anjar & was extended to Bhuj from Anjar in 1908 and later to Bhimasar, Bhachau & Kandla.
Introduced electricity, automobile and aviation in Kutch state. In 1930 he personally identified & selected the location for the new port of Kandla. He built public Hospitals at Bhuj and Mandvi. He promoted the policy of state patronage to education & opened several state-funded-
Schools & educational institutions, like Sanskrit Pathshala, Alfred High School, Library in Princely State of Kutch.
Construction of Khengar Sagar dam at Chhasra over River Bhukhi in 1937, which came as a huge relief for the dry region of Kutch. He opened a special school for poetry in his reign, and promoted the study of Kutcchi lanuage & poetry.
I've seen dozens of Journalists taking potshots at @imjadeja, demeaning the whole jadeja clan because of him, while no one ever took the initiative to bring out the positive aspects of Indian History. The development story of Gujarat isnt 15 yrs old, but goes back to 100s of yrs.
