[thread] Isaiah 21’s Prophecy About Jesus and Muhammad
A prophetic vision where a rider of a donkey and a rider of a camel appear and someone shouts “Babylon is fallen, and all her statues and those made by hand are crushed to the ground.” (LXX)
In the context of the Old Testament, there is only one figure who is foretold to appear riding on a donkey, and that's the Messiah. (Zachariah 9:9)
As we can see here, Jesus fulfilled this prophecy. (Mark 11:7-10)
Moreover, the phrase “Babylon is fallen” occurs many times in the book of Revelations, and It’s applied in the eschatological context of the second coming. (Revelations 14:8, 18:2)
So since we have proven that the rider of the donkey is Jesus. Let’s move on to the identity of the camel rider. Who do you guys think it is ;)? Before we start, let’s establish the connection between Jesus and Muhammad first, shall we?
They’re the closest prophets to each other, both relationally and chronologically. They rule over the same kingdom and they get buried next to each other.
Furthermore, there is no race more known for riding camels other than the Arabs. That’s more self-evident than the Sun when it rises every morning.
And as we know, the early Muslims eliminated pretty much all idol worship from what used to be Babylon once they conquered it, so Muhammad fulfilled that criteria as well.
Some traditions argue that the donkey and camel riders are Darius and Cyrus who also conquered Babylon. However, that’s a weaker argument since no definitive connection can be established between them and the animals.
But even if we were to hypothetically concede that the immediate context refers to Darius and Cyrus. The New Testament is pregnant with “dual prophecies” and “typology” based on the book of Isaiah. So we could simply appeal to that methodology.
