SMALL THREAD: ADOPTION IN ISLAM
Another major misconception about Islam. Here the English Language is again poor compared to Arabic. Kafala and Tabanni are two very different things, yet in English they are referred to as Adoption.
They ask you, [O Muhammad], what they should spend [in charity]. Say, βWhatever you spend of good is [to be] for parents and relatives and orphans and the needy and the traveller. And whatever you do of good - indeed, Allah is Knowing of it.ββ Al Baqarah: 215
Have you seen the one who denies the Recompense [the religion]? For that is the one who drives away the orphanβ. Al Maβun: 1-2
And they [the righteous] give food in spite of love for it to the needy, the orphan, and the captiveβ¦β Al Insan: 8
Abu Hurairah (RA) reports that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) statedβWhoever caresses the head of an orphan (in affection), solely for the sake of Allah, a good deed will be written to his account for every hair over which he passed his hand, and whoever treated an orphan
(boy or girl) with goodness and kindness, he and I will be close to each-other in Heaven as these two fingersβ The Prophet (SAW) made a gesture with his fingers as explained above.
THIS is called Kafalatul-Yateem and this is one of the most beloved deeds to God.
What Tabanni means in Islam is that the Orphan takes your name so that you become his/her biological father. This would lead to confusion in matters like inheritance, genealogies (perhaps even incest) and therefore it's forbidden.
It's another one of the Shubuhat (misconceptions) that these treacherous misfits are trying to spread.
