THREAD: Inheritance in Islam
A great misconception against Islam is that inheritance in Islam is only 2:1 for man and woman. Inheritance in Islam is much, much more intricate than that, so as to distribute the inherited money fair and square.
What these dimwits don't know, is that women are favoured too in other cases of inheritance, whereby A WOMAN GETS EQUAL TO A MAN, A WOMAN GETS MORE THAN THE MAN, A WOMAN GETS ALL, THE MAN GETS NOTHING.
I bet they didn't know this, but let's just get straight to the rules of inheritance in Islam. It's never been only 2:1, so you're in for a surprise you bigots.
The daughter can get half/two-thirds. A surviving husbandβs share is either ΒΌ or Β½, depending on if there are children. For the wife, it is either 1/8 or 1/4, again, depending on if there are children. Other fixed shares are 1/6 for the father, and 1/6 for the mother
Cases Where Women Inherit More Than Men
1. If the deceased leaves a husband and one daughter.
2. If the deceased leaves a husband and two daughters.
3. If the deceased leaves a daughter and maternal uncles.

You ought to keep in mind, that in Islam, a woman is supposed to not spend ANYTHING, such that if she did, she has to get it back from her male relative. If the father dies, her brother MUST spend over her, if her brother dies and she isn't married, then her male relatives.
As men need more money to take care of both HIMSELF AND HIS WIFE/Female relative, they'd the money more so a man's share is usually the double of the woman's. Islam splits on the basis of justice and equity, not mere equality.
Oh and by the way, I heard of a Coptic Christian family in Egypt whose female members were happy to even get a share under the Islamic Inheritance Laws. Let's look at what the Christians have to say about it:
"If a man dies and leaves no son, turn his inheritance over to his daughter. (Numbers 27:8)"
So in other words, women (daughters, sisters and mothers) don't inherit anything if a man (son) is present.

I rest my case. Please do add upon this and point out if I stated something wrong. I'll humbly accept it.
