This is right.
In the 1906 Zulu 'rebellion' (as the #British called it) in South Africa, Gandhi had appealed to #Indians community in South Africa to form 'Indian Ambulance Corps'.

The British were glad to see Gandhi's initiative, since the 'Whites weren't willing to nurse the wounded Zulus'.

Gandhi himself wrote that he was appointed as Sgt. Major of the 'Indian Ambulance Corps', which served for 6 weeks.

In 1927, he admits the 'rebellion' was in actuality a man-hunt of the Zulus by #British.
