You see headlines about this sneaker reseller whose mom was a Nike VP?
Everyone is talking about how he used her CC and discounts.
Meanwhile he was making $100k/mo selling inside info on a paid Discord channel — and told a journalist about it.
Literally.
Issa thread 👇🏼👇🏼
The story starts with a Portland kid named Joe. Joe’s mom is a VP at Nike and GM of North America.
Like any self respecting suburban gen z kid, Joe uses bots to snag sneaker releases online faster than real users and stacks them at his parent’s in the hills outside Portland.
By the time he’s in college at the U of O, he’s at a pretty serious scale with a coordinated cook group.
Using bots and the boys, he’s snagging Nike, Jordan’s and Yeezys at scale and immediately flipping them for an extra $100+/pair.
His mom’s Amex floats it.
$200k/mo.
The bot hustle is a common one. I follow a yeezy bot @mannynotfound made on GitHub years ago and to this day get notifications about hype beasts trying to use it.
It's unfair but so is life. NBA Top Shot has done a great job protecting against this so far, far as I can tell.
Anyway, Joe is posting his hustle on Instagram under the brutally bad brand name @west.coast.streetwear and it’s a 20 year old's dream. A warehouse overflowing with sneakers, cash, cars, the dream.
He connects with a reporting doing a story on resellers and tells all.
Over time his hustle shifts.
Instead of buying new releases at retail prices, he starts buying “bricks” - that is slow moving inventory in traditional channels that are being liquidated.
He buys bulk, heavily discounted, and without crazy competition.
Sometimes from Nike’s site. With an employee discount.
He’s got a nack for buying stuff Nike won’t be producing again.
Then he takes it to the resell market where he can make money selling at or below retail.
He’s REALLY good at finding when large retailers are going to slash prices so he can buy em up.
He’s also buying up stuff that’s discontinued.
He’s like.... REALLY good at this stuff.
You know Portland- if you know the right people this info is floating around hahaha
He’s telling a Bloomberg journalist all this btw
This is a little vague I guess, like he didn’t finish with “and those *right* people are my mom”

Joe’s sneaker hustle info is so good, he starts selling his tips and insights.
It’s so good, he has a Discord with 450 members paying $250/mo for this stuff.
That’s $100k/mo selling his info.
He also owns 2 cook group pages on IG with 10k+ each, that advertise $50 and $100/mo
So one day he calls his journalist friend to touch base about how cool he is.
Dude notices the name “Ann Hebert” shows up on the caller ID cuz moms is still paying the phone bill.
He googles her.
She’s VP and GM of Nike North America.
She’s also Joe’s mom.
Most articles are mentioning that her credit card and discounts were used.
Does selling Nike’s private information constitute corporate espionage of some sort?
Maybe this is a stretch but it’s jumping off the page at me.
Do you know dude? @Heskicks
Wild thing is the kid could have kept doing it if he didn't feel the need to tell everyone about it.
Ego is the enemy my guy.
Anyway - Breaking down things like this is my jam, and I tweet about business, cards, and weed the rest of the time.
