π¨π³πΈπΎ "Syria Development Report (2020)" is the third annual report on Syria compiled by the Syrian Research Center of Northwestern University. The report reviewed in detail the political, economic and diplomatic situation of Syria in 2019.
The report believes that 2019 was the beginning of Syria's reconstruction. First, the situation in the Syrian battlefield has generally stabilized.
Second, the reconstruction of Syria is gradually starting. In 2019, the Syrian government held a number of trade fairs and expositions of various scales to attract foreign investors and restart the Syrian economy.
Finally, the risk of future conflicts still exists. First, the situation around Idlib province in north-western Syria is still uncertain. Second, the dispute in the Golan Heights may lead to a military conflict between Israel and Syria.
Finally, the relationship between Russia and Turkey will become an important external factor affecting the direction of the situation in Syria.
In the new situation, China should continue to firmly respect and support Syriaβs sovereignty and territorial integrity, play an important constructive role in the process of promoting peace and talks, and at the same time play a role within its capacity in>>
the process of Syriaβs economic reconstruction, taking into account the previously mentioned risks. Finally, to solidly work with Syria to promote the construction of the βBelt and Roadβ.
