I trust Laporta. I will always give him the benefit of doubt and my wholehearted optimism, always.
He's earned it.
He's earned it.
The moment it was clear Koeman was staying I tried to understand it, but I still strongly disagree. The past two seasons have been nothing but throwing Messi’s final years down the drain, and we will have another one season of waste.
Sacking Koeman would cost more money that Barcelona doesn’t have right now. Laporta has made it clear things are worse than expected and bringing another coach means a big salary plus the uncertainty of any new appointment.
Two consecutive league seasons without winning La Liga with the best footballer in the history of the sport in your squad and the highest wage bill football has ever seen is an anomaly of the highest order.
Laporta and his team have rightfully calculated that it’s almost impossible for Messi to go on for three seasons without winning La Liga, and statistically they are right. Especially when there’s real leadership at the club right now.
Forget the Champions League, it’s a delusion to think Barcelona can win it with a mentally fractured squad with a coach that at his best is good enough just for a midtable team.
Keep Koeman for another season, his contract runs out, and Laporta will have a full year to plan ahead carefully instead of making decisions that could come up costly in the long term. Thankfully Messi will stay, it’s a miracle and we’re all relying on him.
There’s the small risk Messi pulls this clown troupe squad to a league title and Koeman stays for a third year? Laporta would never, it’s not his coach and he’s shown his true colors in the media over the past three weeks.
