⚔️ THE MARATHA BRAVEHEART — Harapāladeva Chalukya 🚩
Forgotten by Indian History, this Mahratta lion of the Chalukya Kula made the final stand of the Marathas against Khalji Sultanate.
On a scale LARGER than that of William Wallace from Scottish War of Independence!
READ NOW!
Year 1311 CE.
The glorious Sevuna Yadava Empire's Pratap Chakravarti Samrat Ramachandradevaraya Yadavraya died, and his elder son Prince Singhanna alias Shankaradeva ascended the throne and rebelled against the Khalji overlords, expelling all Muslim governors out of Maharashtra.
Muslim governors were repelled back towards North in a valiant struggle waged by Samrat Singhanna spanning 2 years before his defeat in battle with Turks.
Delhi had by popular opinion now become the greatest city of the world with just a miniscule FRACTION of loot from Devagiri.
As a recap, the loot of Mahratta City of Devagiri allowed Alauddin Khalji to successively:
1) Gain legitimacy among Delhi Nobles and citizens
2) Make Delhi the imperial Taqt of Hindustan with glamour
3) Construct strongholds to repel the Mongols
4) Conquer North Indian dynasties
Without the help of treasures of Devagiri, a petty Master of Ceremonies like Ali Gurshap could never even dream of having guts to betray Jalaluddin Khalji, or even be ALLOWED entry into Delhi!
With Maratha wealth, he simply bribed his way to success as Malika Jahan observed.
Malikā Jāhān, one of the bed-warmers from Jalaluddin Khalji's harem wrote a letter to her son Arkali Khan explicitly stating that it was grandeur (wealth of Devagiri) and accumulated strength (manpower won by bribery) of Alauddin that will win Ala the Throne.
And she was right!
With the tiny portion of treasures looted from Mahratta Pratap Chakravartin Samrat Ramachandradevaraya, Sultan Alauddin Khalji beautified and fortified infrastructures of Delhi and all strategic locations of his territories in North India truly making Delhi the Seat of Hindustan.
It was less of enterprising spirit or mettle of his Turko-Afghan Hordes, but more of the coins of Maratha Yadavrayas looted by Alauddin that established elaborate defensive systems which ultimately repelled Mongols and saved North India.
Liquidated wealth of *Hindus* only.
Delhi Sultans earlier had no sense of financial management, or investing appropriately in defense or offense projects.
Alauddin Khalji could now equip his mleccha armies with all fantastical resources in REALITY using limitless Devagiri treasure, allowing his infamous conquests!
Devagiri, Mountain of the Gods, once the wealthiest, greatest cities the world and epitome of defensive architecture, still retained it's glory and wealth even up to the period of Ibn Batuta.
The unimaginable splendour and wealth of Marathas can seen from the revenue yield...
Which annually amounted to over SEVENTEEN (17) CRORE DINARS!
1 Crore is equal to *100* LAKH Dinars.
1 Lakh is equal to *100,000* Dinars!
This was merely annual revenue of Devagiri as a clumsily subjugated, unruly province.
Under stable Maratha rule it was even greater.
In order to clarify the worth of Devagiri Province, it must be noted that the ENTIRE North Indian expanse yielded a revenue of merely *ONE* crore Dinars to the most brutal general of Khaljis, Nusrat Khan.
It cost maximum 1,000 Dinars to purchase prime class human slaves.
The Mahrattas looked upon these developments like mauled wolves as their wealth was used by the Jihadi armies of Delhi Sultanate to wreak havoc on Hindus around Bharatvarsha.
The key to breaking the financial spine was in front of their eyes.
And a leader arose to take action.
Scion of Harithiputra Chalukyas, Harapaladeva, son of Kamadeva Chalukya restored the Mahratta Empire of Devagiri and began waging a rebellion from 1313 to 1318 CE on a far greater magnitude than what was waged in contemporary Scottish War of Independence by Sir William Wallace.
As the Son-In-Law of Samrat Ramachandradevaraya Jadhavrao, Harapaladeva Chalukya began his rebellion by declaring himself a sovereign Maharaja, being the eldest male related to the ruling family.
He became mentor, regent and adoptive father of his nephew Govindadevaraya.
All Mahratta Kshatriyas who remembered the golden days of Yadavraya rule assembled once more under the resurgent Chalukya Empire of Maharaja Harapaladeva Chalke.
Like Umayyads centuries ago, it was surely destined that Chalukyas would smash back the Khalji invaders as well.
Sultan Alauddin Khalji had died biting and ripping out his own flesh out of frenzy when he heard that Sisodiyas in North retook Chittor and in the South Maharaja Harapaladeva Chalke had alone SINGLE-HANDEDLY stirred up entire Kshatriya might of Deccan to arms against the Khaljis.
Meanwhile the true direct blood descendant of Yadavrayas, the son of martyred Samrat Shankaradevaraya, Govindadevaraya Jadhavrao grew up under his uncle's protection and learned the ways of warfare and kingship.
Maharaja Harapaladeva was in truth only keeping the throne for him.
Together the united army of Mahrattas roved around the Deccan pushing out every single Muslim governor back to the North.
In less than 5 years they reversed almost all Khalji gains in Maharashtra.
Malik Naib, used this anarchy as an opportunity to seize the wealth of Devagiri.
Sultan Mubarak Khalji at Delhi was until now indecisive about the chaos.
He realized wealth of Devagiri Province demanded his highest attention and prepared to march his Mleccha hordes.
Lakhs after lakhs of Ghizz, Roumis, Turks, Mongols, Rusīs, Tajiks & Qurāsainis...
Maharaja Harapaldeva Chalke had managed to reach Devagiri before Khalji, and seized all the Mahratta treasures excavated and accumulated by Malik Naib.
The fort was garrisoned and Mahrattas stood still in the calm before the storm.
Entire mountainous country was occupied.
Mubarak Khalji reached Ghāt-E-Saguna after a journey of 2 months accompanied by his finest commander Khusrau Khan and various Amirs, Maliks and other chiefs.
He gave the orders to commence the devastation.
His hordes spread out ravaging Deccan mercilessly with fire and sword.
Merely ~10,000 Mahrattas would now have to defend the entire Dakshinapatha by facing the Mleccha armies that would be of over 10 Lakhs, at the very least...
In the final Battle that was about to begin to decide the fate of Mahrattas for the next 300 years.
Part 2 Coming Soon.
