Translation of a grant from Rajāh of Kumaon Dīp Chand to chiefs Harirama and Sibdeva Joshi. There are two defeats that the two Kumaoni chiefs inflicted upon the Rohillas. This is a contemporary source, made in 1755 (sake year 1677).

Visual- Random Copper Plate Grants
The first battle:
“Men of our house were in alliance with the Rohillas. They had brought the forces of the Rohillas to Kumaon. A battle was fought a Gōlaulī. These (Joshi brothers) sacrificed their persons.
The first battle continued:
Hariram Joshi brought forces from Bhabar. He inflicted a defeat on the Rohillas at Gōlauli, who had gone there with the Rohillas of Kumaon. He came, fought, and won the battle in one day”
The second battle:
“Naijib Khan, the jamādar of Muhammad, attacked with a force of four thousand Rohillas. On our behalf, Hariram and Sībdeva went to meet there with a state force. They won and removed the thānā of the Rohillas from Kota”
The untranslated inscription lists the forces of the Kumaonis at 1,000 (surpised the editor didn't include this), so thus, it was 1,000 Kumaonis led by Sibdeva and Harirama Joshi vs 4,000 Rohillas (who had better cannons) and the former won.
All of this happened sometime from 1748-1755, early in Dip Chand’s reign.
